Visible light (roughly 380-700nm) passes through clear materials. That' what makes them appear clear. A 445nm blue light diode laser won't work. An 808nm near-IR diode laser won't work either. A CO2 laser (10600nm) does work with clear acrylic/glass/etc. Those materials are opaque to that wavelength.
