Most pattern layouts will have you cutting a double layer with right sides facing, but for a few fabric types, I would recommend only lasering a single layer at a time. If going that route, you'll need to either mirror the pattern or flip which side faces down on the laser. Notches in the seam allowance can be lasered quite easily.
