Building the table is easy enough for me, the overwhelming part is the cad and all the settings and bs to operate one. Some specs;Have 5x10 Magnum II precision plasma llc gantry kit. Have Volex z axis with home brewed magnetic breakaway. Have Hypertherm powermax 85 with (need>)machine torch. Need Candcnc electronics jazz.
A mount for a rotozip and an airScribe with a pneumatic cylinder. The original table was built using parts scraped together from robotic tape libraries. Well the parts just aren't strong enough to resist shaking etc so it' time to build the table right. Planning on a 5x10 or 5x8 table with 3:1 reduction.

Move the rails up above the cutting table. This does two things for me during the design. First, it makes the gantry mount almost directly to the bearing blocks. That is going to be a lot easier to square the gantry as you don’t have to worry about plates tweaking out of alignment due to weight.

James took our two 2x4' (4), cut them to length and screwed them onto the edge of the pallet to help stabilize the water storage drums (1). This plasma table has been designed to work with whatever plasma torch you have whether hand-held or a full blown CNC Torch. The mounting plate has been designed to be adaptable as possible. You can either attach the torch with zip-ties or U Bolts depending on how often you need to take it off.
Stand the sides of your table up and add your cross-beams in order to square up the frame of your table. Be sure that you are working on a level surface so that your table does not end up being uneven and wobbly! Add your gantry frame and use a metal grinder if needed to have it fit properly.
Software is easy to use, works great and is still in active development for new features. I believe in their forums you can find people who have adapted the lasersaur software and controls (Arduino + Beaglebone based) for plasma cutters. The most common mounting point is right above the shield cup (the ceramic part that protects the internals from the heat of plasma stream). This is what I built - using a set of laser cut parts plus off the shelf components. The results are pretty good! I built it originally to use with a cheap Chinese Plasma cutter - which cost about $400.
If you look around on the web there are a ton of DIY CNC Plasma Tables. They almost all have the same design. Some have wheels, some don’t. Some have a water table, some have down draft. But almost all, including the production level machines have the X axis rails on the same level as the table. Frankly, I don’t like it.
