Emitting Laser - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
1.5.4. Surface-emitting lasers (SEL): microlasers. SELs are lasers emitting in a direction perpendicular to the layer planes [ 67–69 ], at variance with the common diode lasers. In some SELs the laser cavity is horizontal, and vertical emission is obtained by bending the output beam upwards with appropriate mirrors.
