It doesn't seem like there is a way to just remove a lens even if it were to break. The weapon is just stuck with that lens or whatever lens you swap onto it. Also don't understand why you would ever really need to clear the lens from a weapon. It may keep earning more focus, but that only becomes useless after you have maxed all focus schools.

Answer is I can't because in a mission I can only carry 4 out of those 5. If we can place a lens on a companion, we can carry all 5 and earn focus on all of them at the same time passively.
